This book tells the story of the interurban that connected Tacoma to Seattle. The Pugent Sound Electric was built just after the turn of the 20th Century at the height of the “trolley craze” when roads were poor. It filled the need for fast, efficient transportation in a growing area. Yet like the majority of the interurban railway,PSE’s time in the limelight was brief. By the late 1920s improved roads, new highways and bus and private auto competion caused its abandonment.
