Streetcar Camp

Streetcar Camp I: for kids from 6 to 11 – Thursday August 15, 2024 9 AM to 1 PM

Streetcar Camp II: for kids from 11 to 15 – Friday August 23, 2024 9 AM to 1 PM

Tuition $49

At the Minnesota Streetcar Museum’s Streetcar Camp, children will explore our historic streetcars from top to bottom. Working with experienced museum members they’ll see first hand how streetcars operate. We’ll examine the brakes to see how air pressure is used to stop a twenty ton trolley. We’ll see how the controller regulates speed. We’ll look at rail and track switches, electrical circuits, the overhead wire system, and more. Then each child will have the unique opportunity to climb into the Motorman’s chair and run the streetcar down the track. If your child loves streetcars, this will be a day they will never forget.

Drop your child off at the Linden Hills Station, 42nd and Queen Avenue South, by 9 AM Thursday morning. (If the weather presents a problem , Camp may be rescheduled to Friday, August 16 (for Streetcar Camp I) or Friday, August 23 (for Streetcar Camp II) and you will be contacted by phone and email.) Each child should bring a lunch. Bottled water will be provided. Pick-up will be at the Station at 1 PM. That will also be a good time to take pictures.

Enrollment is limited to about 12 campers at each session and will be on a first-come basis. For additional information or to register by paper form please contact Andy Jacob at andy.jacob@trolleyride.org
